Drink Bottles: Could Your Bottle be Harming Your Health?

Research has estimated that an athlete’s water bottle, on average, hosts around 313,499 colony-forming units (CFU) per square centimeter. For comparison, the average dog chew toy has just 2,937 CFU per square centimeter.* Now that’s a lot of germs in your bottle!

Experts say that you should give your drink bottles a thorough wash after each daily use. If you don’t, they can become a smelly, slimy breeding ground for bacteria and mould. This is why keeping your family’s water bottles clean and stored correctly is so important.

Tri Nature to the rescue!

There are 2 different ways to clean your drink bottles properly, and today I’m here to run you through each method:

1. Dishwasher:

If your bottles are dishwasher safe, take them apart and load them face down into your dishwasher. Add a scoop of Tri Nature’s Dishwashing powder to the machine dispenser, and start the cycle. The Award-Winning Citrus Dishwashing powder will not only clean the bottles but will also sanitise them for you (without leaving any residue)!

2. Sink Washing:

If your bottles are not dishwasher safe, then you will need to wash them in the sink, but don’t worry! We’ve got you covered here too.

Simply add 1 pump of Tri Nature’s Chamomile Dishwashing Liquid into each bottle and fill them three-quarters full with hot water. Screw the lid onto the bottle and give it a good shake. Using a bottle brush, give the inside a good scrub out. Rinse it clean until there are no more suds and then leave the bottle to air dry.
