How to Choose the Right Fragrance for your Home

Scent has the incredible ability to alter mood, awaken memories and create impressions, but with so many brands, oils and blends available on the market, it’s no wonder that so many of us get overwhelmed when trying to choose a fragrance for our homes.

One of the most common questions we get asked at Tri Nature is ‘What fragrance do you recommend for my home?’

Well, it really depends on the mood you want to create.

Generally speaking, most people either select a fragrance based on which room they require it for or if you’re seeking one scent for the entire house, then you might choose it based on the current season.

To help you navigate through the many available options, we’ve put together a quick guide to help you decide which Tri Nature oils you should choose to put in your diffuser:

Fragrances that relate to cooking and food work best in this space, especially herbs, fruits, and citrus. For the kitchen and dining areas, we recommend Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Orange, Lemongrass, or Peppermint.

Fresh and clean fragrances are the best selections for the bathroom. Think greens, bright herbs, and citrus. A great option for this space would be Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Orange, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, Lemon Myrtle, Peppermint, Tea Tree, our Inspiration blend, or our Exuberance blend.

We also highly recommend using our essential oils in combination with our Luxury Massage Oil or Sweet Almond Massage Oil, for that extra touch of pampering after a nice hot bath or shower.

You can experiment a bit more in the living room, depending on what mood you’re looking for. If you’re hosting a party, you could select a spicy, energetic scent like Bergamot, Frankincense, Patchouli, Peppermint, or Grapefruit. For a small gathering, more intimate florals like Geranium, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, or our Pure Thoughts blend are well suited.

Soothing and Calming scents work best in this space. Delicate florals like Lavender will work well, or something with a bit more warmth like Orange. We love our Sweet Dreams blend or Stress-Free blend for this area.

Uplifting, energetic scents are great for the office or study. For this space, we love Lemongrass and Peppermint. Or choose from one of our favourite blends – Inspiration, Pure Thoughts, Wellbeing, or Clear Focus.

To create a fresh and welcoming first impression for visitors entering your home, aromatic and woody scents are perfect. For the entryway, we love Cedarwood, Frankincense, and our Exuberance blend.

If you’re choosing one scent for the entire house, we suggest selecting a fresh citrus, or light floral for Summer and Spring, or a warmer, woody, and herbal scent for Winter and Autumn.

So there you have it! Selecting a scent for your home doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Using this guide, we hope you have fun being creative with your space.

Remember: when selecting fragrances for your home, steer clear of hidden nasty chemicals. This is particularly important if you have pets. The very best choice is 100% pure essential oils, which have been either cold-pressed or steam-distilled.

At Tri Nature, you can always shop with the confidence that you are buying the finest quality available. All Tri Nature oils are 100% pure essential oils obtained by cold pressing or steam distillation. To view our much-loved range of pure essential oils, click here.
