Christmas time is a peak time for entertaining guests in your home, and the kitchen tends to be a high traffic area during the festive season too, especially when it comes time to prepare the meals.
If you’re looking for ways to be more organised for Christmas time in your home, particularly in the kitchen, we’ve created an 8 step guide for you to follow so that you can feel more relaxed and enjoy the festive season with your family and friends.
1. Clear your benchtops
Remove and organise all papers and accumulated clutter from your bench space. If it’s important, file it. If not, recycle it. This is a great way to create some extra space for entertaining and preparing food as well.
Once cleared, give your benchtops and backsplashes a nice clean with Supre Multi Purpose Cleaner to make them sparkle like new.
2. Clean out the microwave
The microwave is an appliance which is often forgotten about when it comes time to clean, more often than not because once the door closes the mess is out of sight and out of mind.
Christmas time often means a full kitchen – not only with plates of food being prepared, but with family and friends wanting to help. The last thing you want is your helpful guest opening up your microwave to discover old food splatter; or worse, to smell it.
3. Clean your oven
Your oven is probably going to be the hardest working appliance at Christmas time, and it too can often be neglected. Take the safe option and spray clean with our amazing Blitz Oven & BBQ Cleaner. This will ensure your oven is sparkling and clean – ready for roasting that delicious Christmas turkey or ham.
4. Clean out the fridge
Fridges can really get a workout over Christmas, especially when it comes time to storing all those snacks and leftovers. To ensure your fridge doesn’t have any nasty surprises for helpful guests, use Tri Nature’s Sanazone Odourless Disinfectant to wipe down all shelves, drawers and door internals. Clean away food mess and kill germs in one hit! And don’t forget to give the vents a wipe over to ensure good ventilation for cooling food properly.
5. Disinfect garbage bins
There’s nothing worse than having guests over and realising that there’s a foul odour coming from somewhere in your kitchen. Garbage bins can be a common culprit. Be Christmas ready by tackling your bins with Sphagnum Moss Disinfectant and some hot water, and your guests will be delighted by the fresh Spearmint and Musk aroma.
6. Clean out your dishwasher
Dishwashers accumulate a lot of old food debris and water scale build up over time, which can begin to smell and re-infect your clean dishes. It would be a good idea to descale your dishwasher with Maxim Descaler a few weeks before Christmas time to ensure all of the food debris has well and truly cleared out before guests arrive.
7. Get your tableware ready
Are your cutlery pieces and cooking utensils lacking in luster? Give them a run through the dishwasher using our natural Citrus Dishwashing Powder, accompanied by the Citrus Dishwashing Rinse Aid. This will ensure that all of your tableware is sparkling and spot-free for Christmas time.
8. Polish and decorate!
To be completely Christmas ready, don’t forget to polish any silverware, ensure knives are sharp and give your cloth napkins and table cloth a wash with our award-winning Alpha Plus Laundry Powder. Then decorate your table setting ahead of time to create an inviting and festive setting for your friends and family to enjoy when they arrive.
